As we get closer to Christmas, I find myself reaching for one of my red lipsticks or glosses more than any other colour. There’s something about a red lip that just feels like Christmas – a red lip stain on your Starbucks holiday cup is such a winning combo. A red lip definitely makes me feel more festive, which is such a delightful feeling! I’ve tried quite a lot of different ones (I have an obscene amount of lip products) and I thought I’d share my favourite festive red lips with you all today – hey, there’s still time to request one (or all of them!) for a Christmas present! What’s your go-to red lip product? 💋
Kylie Cosmetics – Mary Jo K
It’s kind of funny, even though Mary Jo K is just from Kylie’s regular line, I still prefer this shade over the red mattes from her holiday edition. It has the most perfect, gorgeous hint of pink and makes my lips look full and bright! If you’ve ever used a Kylie liquid lipstick before, you’ll know that the staying power of these bad boys are INSANE… I’m talking, get in there and SCRUB or you’ll wake up with it still on your lips the next morning.
Kylie Cosmetics – Naughty Gloss
Unlike Mary Jo K, Naughty Gloss actually is from her holiday line and I fell in love with it the second I saw the swatch on Kylie’s snapchat. It is the most perfect, juicy red gloss I’ve ever seen – and the adorable packaging makes it even better! And in case you were wondering, this is the colour I’m wearing on my lips on the pic below ☺️
MAC – M.A.C Red
Honestly, I had a lot of trouble choosing between my MAC reds – I have a lot of them, but didn’t want to include too many! However, I felt like this was the most festive of them all, and obviously one of my favourites! I honestly love MAC lipsticks, they go on so softly and last a long time without smudging.
Revlon – Red Velvet
This is the darkest red of the lot, and I love it! It’s so perfect for a night out with the gal pals, or heading out to get some mulled wine (which I’ve never actually had, but it sounds like something you’d with with a fierce dark red lippy on!) Honestly, I got kinda crazy and bought all 20 of the lip butters when they first came out, because they are the best consistency. They’re something you’d expect from a high end brand, not a product you can easily grab at your local chemist. (Fun fact you might not have known, that’s what we call a drugstore.)
This is pretty different from the rest, but this is the one I use most often the rest of the year – it’s absolutely AMAZE when you just want a slight red tint to your lip, for a more natural look. I often just wear this with a bit of mascara – with filled in eyebrows too obviously, because otherwise I look like I’ve arrived from another planet… it’s the cursed life of the blondes.
